Education permeates the culture at Magee. Trainees of all levels in multiple disciplines participate in patient care and educational activities at this institution. The department, hospital and UPMC provide strong support to medical teachers, excellent educational facilities, and rich simulation resources for medical trainees to optimize their learning and achieve their career goals.
The residency program incorporates CREOG's Educational Objectives into the four-year program curriculum.
The residency curriculum consists of 9 rotations each year with each rotation lasting approximately 5-6 weeks.
Didactic and Simulation Learning
Our residents' clinical experience is supplemented with level-specific didactics and hands-on teaching.
The majority of training occurs at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital with additional clinical experiences at other UPMC locations.
There are numerous elective opportunities available to our residents during the third-year of training.
Ryan Residency Program
The residency has long been a leader in family planning, and our residents have had a dedicated family planning rotation since 2005.
Residents in the program have the opportunity to pursue their interest in global health. An international elective exists during their third year.
Residency research is an important part of our program, and we have great resources to help each resident succeed.
