Reproductive Endocrinology is concerned with the evaluation and management of infertility and of endocrine disorders relating to reproduction. The Division has active clinical programs that provide patients with state of the art assisted reproductive techniques, including In Vitro Fertilization, micromanipulation, embryo cryopreservation, intrauterine insemination, and donor insemination. We see patients with diagnoses that typically fall in one of the following 4 main categories: infertility, menopause, reproductive endocrinology, and those requiring minimally invasive surgical approaches for conditions such as endometriosis or leiomyomata.

The Division serves as the dominant regional referral center for clinical reproductive endocrinology in western Pennsylvania and also draws a large number of patients from eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. Approximately 600 new patients are seen annually, three-quarters of these are seen primarily because of infertility and one-quarter are seen primarily for an endocrine condition or menopause. Clinical activities in the management of menstrual cycle disorders, androgen excess and menopause parallel research interests of faculty. Operative endoscopic procedures are performed on a regular basis, as are microsurgical procedures such as tubal reanastomosis.
