Women are the center of all we do. We believe in treating women with dignity, empowering her through education, and providing her with outstanding patient care. Our doctors have been ranked amongst the best in the nation as mentioned in Pittsburgh Magazine. Our home base, Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, has been ranked 7th in the nation by U.S. News for our specialty care in gynecology. UPMC is the only Pittsburgh hospital to rank in any specialty. The exceptional quality of our medical faculty and staff has been a key factor in receiving and maintaining these prestigious positions.
As an academic leader, women’s health and gender-specific medicine are distinct parts of both the initial and ongoing professional training received by students, physicians and other healthcare providers. We are dedicated to providing community education and outreach that expands women’s knowledge about their health.
Our department is also at the forefront of research in women’s health. We are the #1 NIH funded OB/GYN Department in the U.S. among the top-funded academic departments of its kind by the National Institutes of Health for continued research and clinical trials. Rather than making us complacent, our success in developing new and improved methods of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment serve to drive us harder towards improving the health in women. |
